Spear of Indra – Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? Episode 04

Mondaiji Ep04 Leticia arrives

[Mondaiji Episode 3]

A new villain arrives on the scene, and the vampire girl makes her presence known.

Leticia Draculair was previously part of Jin and Kurousagi’s community before they were defeated in a gift game. As much as the episode was about her, it feels like they didn’t devote enough time on her backstory. I wish they explained her relationship with Kurousagi and Jin more. She really seems to to really like them, going so far as to save Asuka from the Gorgon beam. Outside of testing the trio with Galdo as her pawn, I’m hoping once she’s rescued that we get to see her back in action.

Mondaiji Ep04 - Luios is scum

Then you have scum of the earth, Luios Perseus. His community is, of course, based on the Greek myth of Perseus. Mondaiji makes it quite black and white about who the bad guys and the good guys are. There is absolutely no redeemable qualities about this guy at all.  Asuka’s gift hardly phased him, but it didn’t phase Galdo when he transformed into that vampire cat beast. The Gargon head and the winged feet were used by his cronies, but I’m wondering if he possesses some powers of his own outside of that. I’m hoping Kurousagi takes down this sleezeball.

Mondaiji Ep04 - Kurousagi summons the Spear of Indra

Kurousagi took the spotlight for this episode for me. In previous episodes, I wondered when we would get a chance to see her in action. She gets upset when Perseus’s goons show up to take Leticia and summons the Spear of Indra. Now I’m curious about where she fits in terms of power. There are supposedly other rabbits that referee/judge Gift Games, but we only get to see Kurousagi. She mentions being an image of dedication, a reference to the folklore of the moon rabbit. When they summon the spear, Perseus’s goons wonder if it’s a replica. If it were the real deal, there’s a lot more to her than just a useless bunny girl. I don’t think it’ll be long before she casts aside her role as just a judge to participate in the Gift Games herself.

As far as the Problem Children go, it still feels very imbalanced. Izayoi is still overpowered to the point of ridiculousness. There was obviously some time while he went out to defeat the Kraken and the Graeae, but the way they present it in the anime makes it feel like it happened in a split second. Asuka’s power feels incredibly limited when both Galdo and Luios both were able to break free of her command. You was still recovering from her battle with Galdo, so we didn’t get to see her in action this time.  The next episode should prove to be quite a battle. I really want Kurousagi to take Luios on because it’s personal for her, but Asuka and Izayoi have a bone to pick with him too. I still have a hard time believing this series is only 10 episodes. I’m having way too much fun with it!

Seriously! I can’t believe this isn’t at least a full 12-13. I hope that, with the seemingly positive response it’s gotten so far, it’ll warrant a quick second season. How could anyone turn down more Kurousagi?

I’m also so jealous that apparently the BD releases will come with the illustrations used as the end cards, especially after this episode’s end card which was just jaw-droppingly amazing.

More Kurousagi would be wonderful. Hey, with it being only 10 episodes, at least picking up the BD releases won’t hurt my wallet as much! I am incredibly tempted to pick it up.

With only 10 episodes it makes me sad that we might not get our epic Izyaoi fight! At least we can say Kurousagi has some powers of her own, but since she is a judge we don’t get to see her flex that power much…I hope she takes those exams and becomes a contestant instead of a judge xD

    Loli vampires! That is all.
